Meet the team

Brian Cole's career in finance began at the First Union Bank where he worked in commercial underwriting and portfolio management. He joined Capital One as a financial analyst in 1997, before moving to manage a finance unit in US Card. Later, Brian served as CFO for Upmarket US Card and then Capital One Europe, beginning in 2005. Brian became Managing Director of the UK business in April 2009.

Brian has a BA in Communication Studies from Virginia Tech University.

Steve Hulme is Chief Financial Officer for Capital One (Europe) plc, leading the team responsible for financial strategy, financial analysis, forecasting and reporting, and tax and procurement.

His experience within the company includes leading Balance Sheet Management & Financial Planning, and he's also a former Financial Controller of the bank.

Steve joined us in 1999 from Rolls-Royce plc, where he'd worked in various financial and internal audit positions.

Steve is a qualified chartered accountant, and also has a degree in Geography from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne.

Chief Risk Officer Victoria Mitchell manages risk functions across the business to ensure best practice and consistency is maintained across all divisions. As well as this role, she has taken on other, diverse responsibilities including executive responsibility for HR in the UK.

Victoria sits on the Board of Capital One (Europe) plc, as well as on the UK Leadership team, where she is jointly responsible for setting the strategy, management and direction of the UK business. Victoria is also a member of the Board of the UK Cards Association.

Victoria joined us in 1997, immediately taking responsibility for setting up the Legal department within Capital One. Before joining Capital One, she worked in the banking division of leading solicitors Wilde Sapte, where she helped to establish the UK branch of Capital One.

Michael has over ten years' experience with Capital One, joining us from Schroders in 1999 to take up a number of roles in both the US and Canadian card businesses, working in Marketing and Credit divisions.

He moved to the UK business in 2005 to work in Marketing and Analysis, taking his career a step further the following year when he became Head of Risk Operations. He took on his latest position, as Chief Operating Officer, in 2009.

Michael has an MBA in Business Administration from INSEAD and a BA from Cambridge University.
