Data Analysts

As a Data Analyst you'll find yourself at one of the heart centres of Capital One playing a key role in our success.

You'll be joining a fast paced, energetic and focused group of people that deliver an accurate and reliable analysis of data.

The role is varied, broad and exciting. One moment you could be giving your expertise to business users explaining how to effectively use the data and the next you could be updating key stakeholders on your data findings.

You're taking a step in the right direction

Essentially, Data Analysts examine how changes in internal and external environmental factors, like strategy and product changes, government legislation and base rate changes could impact the business.

You'll work with the rest of the business to identify, design, test and deliver Management Information and you'll keep key stakeholders up-to-date with insights that you've found. You'll add value to business projects by using your insight to work out the best solutions to challenges and you'll do all this in the smartest and most effective way possible.

You will be providing a hugely valuable role by acting as a data expert and consultant; by using your insight into business strategies and processes you will enable investigation into projects that impact the department.

Your excellent attention to detail will help you in identifying opportunities in monitoring and you will draw on your organisational skills to aid you in ensuring that monitoring evolves and develops during your time with this dynamic and ever-changing department.

Most new graduate Data Analysts will go into our Marketing or Risk Operations departments.

The Marketing department combines traditional marketing and statistical techniques to make decisions, while our Risk Operations department - a key department to Capital One - helps to minimise credit losses.

In our Risk Operations department your role could be as varied as designing strategies, to getting in touch with customers who are behind on payments to find solutions to
help them.

You'll have a strong academic background, including an undergraduate degree ideally in an analytical field such as Engineering, Maths, Physics, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Information Technology or equivalent experience.

A knowledge of applicable data systems, BI/Analytic toolset (SAS/Teradata SQL) and MS Office products would be great as well.

At Capital One we're after genuine original thinkers who can think both laterally and logically. You don't need to be a credit card expert, but you do need to relish challenging analytical work. We want people who have the potential to be senior leaders in the future. So if you've got an entrepreneurial attitude with bags of personality to match your performance, come and see us! We want people who are inspirational and fun to work with.
