Your credit card comes with some inbuilt protection. Some is automatic and some is optional, and may require you to pay for the additional benefits.
When you make a purchase that costs between £100 and £30,000 with your credit card the law gives you certain rights. For example, if you don't receive your order, something you buy is not as it should have been, or the supplier is unable to fulfil your order because it has gone out of business, you may be able to make a claim against the supplier, your credit card provider, or both.
Additional credit card protections
But that's not the only additional cover you have, Capital One cards come with free credit card Purchase Protection Insurance, which will give you peace of mind by covering many of the things you buy against loss, damage or theft for 100 days after purchase.
Finally, there's the optional credit card Payment Protection Insurance (PPI). This is an insurance policy that could cover your payments (or a percentage of them) should you become unemployed due to an accident, sickness or redundancy. The cost for this is normally based on the outstanding balance. As with all insurance policies there are exclusions and terms and conditions which could make it unsuitable for you so, always read the small print before applying.
