Card Protection

PPI is an optional insurance that can protect your Capital One credit card payments in the event of an accident, sickness, unemployment or death.

Accident and Sickness Cover

• If you suffer an accident or sickness which prevents you from working for at least 30 consecutive days

Unemployment Cover

• If you become unemployed through redundancy (if employed) or business failure (if self-employed) for at least 30 consecutive days

Life Cover

• If you die during the period of cover

This cover is subject to exclusions all of which are detailed within our current Policy Document, however for details on your individual policy you will need to contact us on 08444 815 834**

Our current Capital One Payment Protection Insurance is charged at 79p per £100 of the outstanding balance on your credit card statement each month. This premium includes Insurance Premium Tax at the prevailing rate, where applicable.

We have calculated the cost of our Payment Protection Insurance as a monthly cost for every £100 of monthly benefit that you would receive if you made a successful claim for an accident, sickness or unemployment. This equates to £7.90.

If your claim is successful you will receive 10% of your outstanding balance on your last statement before your redundancy, accident or sickness, each month for up to 12 months, or the whole outstanding balance at the date of your death for life claims.

If you decide that you no longer require PPI, you may cancel your policy at any time, by calling us on
08444 815 835**.

If you cancel within 30 days of receiving your Certificate of Insurance or your original policy document (whichever you receive last) we will refund any premium paid. Your cover will end immediately after we process your cancellation.

You are eligible to take out protection for your Capital One credit card if on the starting date:

• you are aged 18 or over and under 65
• you are a U.K. resident (To continue to be eligible for this policy you must remain a U.K. resident throughout the period of cover) and
• you are currently in employment or self-employment and have been so continuously for at least the last six months
