How to prevent Credit Card Fraud

Here are some simple steps you can take to help protect yourself from Credit Card Fraud

  • Do not allow anyone else to use your cards or credit card cheques
  • Memorise your PIN, destroy the notice of it and change the number to one you can easily remember (you can do this at most UK cash machines)
  • Do not write down your PIN or give it to anyone else
  • Never give out your pin or password in unsolicited calls or emails
  • Do not keep your card and PIN together
  • Only shop at secure websites and only enter your account or card number on the internet if you are sure you are on a secure page - look for the padlock symbol and a web address that starts with https
  • Check your credit card and bank statements regularly and report unauthorised transactions immediately
  • For added protection when shopping online, register for Verified by Visa or MasterCard Securecode
