Capital One's New technology leader
20th April 2016
A LEADING technology professional has made a move to Capital One.
Andy Reeves, 44, has joined the credit card company, taking the position of vice president of technology, following roles at Microsoft, Blinkbox and most recently, Amazon.
Andy said: "I'm working with the team to develop our own software to create a lasting and meaningful impact for our customers. I believe the financial industry in the UK is ready for change and Capital One is doing many things to make this happen, this really was one of the deciding factors in making the move and I can honestly say that I've never seen a company embrace change like they do here, it's unique."
Following seven years at Microsoft, Andy joined Blinkbox becoming chief technology officer where his team pioneered the streaming of movies and television shows from major studios to customers; this was at a time when Blockbuster stores and Netflix were still renting DVDs.
Prior to joining Capital One, Andy led the video engineering teams at Amazon in the UK and India. They were responsible for the creation of the company's video website, smart TV, BluRay, set-top boxes, Xbox and PlayStation applications and the entire LoveFilm disc-by-post technology business.
Rob Harding, chief information officer UK said: "We're delighted to announce that Andy has joined Capital One. He will be working across our business to engineer amazing products that help our customers succeed. I am looking forward to Andy expanding our engineering teams in Nottingham and London over the coming months."
Andy will be based at Capital One's Nottingham headquarters, but will spend part of his time in its London offices at Regents Place.
