Capital One’s Jennie Koo Makes Top 10 in HERoes Women Role Model Lists 2020

24th September 2020

Nottingham, 24 September 2020: Capital One congratulates Jennie Koo, Head of Operations Risk Management, on making top 10 in HERoes Women Role Model Future Leaders List 2020.

Capital One UK is delighted to congratulate Jennie Koo, for making it in the top 10 of a list which recognises inspirational women. The HERoes Women Role Model Lists - supported by Yahoo Finance - is dedicated to those who are more than four levels from Executive level in an organisation, but are making a significant contribution to gender diversity at work.

On joining Capital One 18 months ago, Jennie focused on increasing visibility and awareness within her leadership team, quickly getting appointed to lead empowHER’s UK chapter - Capital One’s gender Business Resource Group (BRG). Jennie also brings a gender lens to Capital One’s ethnicity network which focuses on representation and engagement of Capital One’s black, asian and minority ethnic associates.

Jennie also volunteers on the board of Women in Banking and Finance, establishing a regional presence to support women in the Midlands region.

Jennie Koo commented:
"I am honoured to be featured amongst such an amazing group of women. It's taken me a while to appreciate and take such recognition for the work I do in the gender space as part and parcel of the territory I choose to operate in. It's amazing to be able to work for an organisation that encourages this kind of work and has enabled me to continue operating in this space externally and internally with ease. By embracing this accolade, it showcases the continued work we all have to do to reach gender parity and I'm delighted to be able to shine a light on the great work that so many individuals and organisations continue to drive simply, because it's the right thing to do."

Emma Allen, Lead for Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging, Capital One, said:
“I am delighted that Jennie has been recognised for her efforts in this area, as her activity in the gender space encompasses exactly what we stand for at Capital One. Our BRGs are an integral part of employee wellbeing, especially during these difficult times as they help to create an inclusive open forum for associates and encourage the embedding of a diversity and inclusion focus in our business operations, policies and procedures. Jennie's leadership of Capital One UK's empowHer BRG demonstrates the collaborative and proactive approach she takes to encouraging and creating opportunities for women. With her strong focus on intersectionality, Jennie's contribution to our organisation's Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging journey is significant and it is therefore no surprise to see her celebrated amongst this group of outstanding women. Well done Jennie - we are proud of you!”
