The company was awarded top honours for Best Technology Initiative of the Year, Best Design of the Year and received the Changing lives in the Community Award. The awards are an acknowledgement of Capital One's sustained investment in customer-centric technology solutions designed to help make credit simple.
The awards recognise excellence and innovation in the UK and Irish card and payments industries, with the winners determined by an independent panel of industry experts. The credit card provider was nominated in six different categories and secured more awards than any other financial institution, reinforcing its commitment to helping customers succeed with credit.
Reinforcing Capital One's credentials as a developer of cutting-edge technological solutions, the company secured the award for Best Design of the Year. The firm was commended for designing a clear user-friendly new mobile app that helps customers arrange a repayment plan, a unique feature in this market. The solution highlights how Capital One continues to evolve, reinventing its approach to collections, empowering customers by giving them the tools to take control of their finances.
Capital One was named winner of the Best Technology Initiative of the Year, in collaboration with Ethoca, for delivering a better experience for customers by allowing them to qualify unrecognised transactions quickly and simply. The solution assists customers in identifying genuine transactions, providing a digital receipt and extended purchase details, which helps minimise confusion over card spend and improves the safety of the buying journey. The judges commended the development of an "original solution using technology, resolving a real and significant problem in the online world."
Described as a "landslide victory" by judges, Capital One secured the Changing lives in the Community Award, in partnership with Humanutopia, for its Changing Futures initiative. This life-changing programme is aimed at 14-15-year-olds across Nottingham, living in the most deprived districts, who are experiencing issues preventing their progress at school. The award reinforces the company's commitment to investing not just financial resources but the time of its employees, who participated in the scheme as mentors and coaches, to deliver a truly transformative Corporate Social Responsibility campaign.
The awards ceremony, held on 7th February at The Grosvenor House Hotel Park Lane hosted by leading writer and broadcaster Giles Brandreth, saw major industry players come together to acknowledge and reward excellence in customer service, product design and innovation. Success in all three of these categories reflects Capital One's commitment to developing products and new digital solutions that make money management easier.
